So much of our journey has been marked by “mektoub” moments
We started MektoubHenna in late 2019 when Kenzi was in Morocco, taking a quick visit from Spain. While there, Jenpa asked me (Kenzi) if I wanted to go to Morocco. We have both been to Morocco so many times but never together. My reply “why don’t we just have a henna workshop in Morocco already”. We had been dreaming of it for so long but had no clue how to do such a thing. As you know, 2019 was not a good time to start a travel venture, but in the spirit of mektoub, we found a way to make the situation work for us. We had time to build something special and unique in the travel sphere, and were ready to roll once the world opened up again. Yeah, sure, we had to cancel our first trip because of Covid, but even then, it was an opportunity to make our trip even better. Such is the force of mektoub!
While we ARE here to get you to join our trips, we are also here to achieve our main goal: to raise global awareness of Moroccan henna, a form of henna that gets pushed to the back by Indian henna, but which is gorgeous and special in ways most people don’t realize. You don’t have to travel to Morocco with us to learn about Moroccan henna and meet Moroccan henna artists. We will share our 25 years of knowledge, experience, and passion. While we cannot share a glass of mint with you, sitting on a Moroccan rooftop at dusk to hear the call to prayer echo across the city, we aim to do everything but that here!
Come nerd out with us!
We are SUPER nerdy about Moroccan henna. I hope you are ready for history, culture, art, style, spirituality, language, travel, scent, cuisine, anthropology, and so much more…but with a focus on Morocco, North Africa, and neighbors. We welcome all you nerds, seekers, and travelers, curious to deeply experience the world.
Free for now
As we are just getting started, we don’t have a pay model yet. We will see where things go. One thing that you get if you subscribe is early access to our trips, which often come with a discount, or just early access to grab your spot before they all sell out. We will share as much as we can for free so that everyone can enjoy the magic of Moroccan henna.
